Camp-shot
Erminio Marrese hosted our first Camp in New York at his shop on Saturday May 17th. In spite of some pretty sloppy weather the days before we had a great turnout with numerous people coming in from the Chesapeake to New England.
Erminio builds beautiful cabinetry in his shop, and he’s in the final stages of tweaking his Shopbot with the addition of a new vacuum table, as well as some nice “add-ons”to facilitate making his workload easier.
The group was a nice mix of new and experienced users, and we had boat builders, case makers, sign makers, teachers, etc. in attendance.
Due to the diversity of this group we covered a lot of different areas, and there was some very good Show and Tell on hand as well, ( see the picture above which was designed by Diane and Ernie Balch’s son…).
We also had some new devices shown off by Russ Todd who is making a “spring loaded drawing pen”, and “vinyl knife”attachment as after market add ons for the Shopbotter who wants to use his machine for more than just cutting.
Coy Frisbee brought in one of his “Ax Racks” which is a multiple stand used by professional musicians to hold, and protect their guitars while performing on stage.
Ernie and Diane Balch brought in a bunch of samples they make in their sign business.
Phil O’Rourke brought in some beautiful “chip carved” boxes he made on the Shopbot he uses in his school in Massachusetts.
There were a number of new bench top “Buddy”machine owners on hand so we had a chance to go over this machine, and discuss the “Power Stick” option.
And our hosts Erminio, and Mary Lou Marrese served up a wonderful lunch for everyone as well, so it was a wonderful day all around…
