Promote Your Program Traditions

Have you had successes in your program that you would like students, parents and visitors  to see when they come in your classroom or lab? One possible way is to create some type of display in your room for students or teams that have done well.

I started doing this at my last school when students qualified for National SkillsUSA. I machined out a plaque giving their names and national rankings. It was amazing how fast the list of students grew on this wall. And when other students came into the lab for the first time they could relate to these names because they were a brother, sister, cousin or just a family friend.

This is my 5th year at Fort Dodge Senior High and we are currently doing something similar. The teacher before me had a great program before he retired. It was my job to continue his 30 plus years at this school by giving the student the credit they deserved.

This years additions

This years additions in Cabinetmaking, Architectural Drafting and Technical Drafting.

You could use a CNC router/mill, A laser cutter or even a plotter/printer to do this. I like to make posters and hang them in my room and around our hallway to promote the program…. This could be a great project for some of your advanced students to do especially if their name is one that will be on the wall….

I used my plotter to make this... I also have them posted for other contest place winners.

Now my goal is to make another one of these for Automated Manufacturing… Hope it happens in this years State Contest !  I know that I have 3 students who want to have their team be the first on that list….
