When the Jamboree speaker contest was announced a couple of months ago ShopBot decided to also hold a contest for their employees as a warm up, and today was the big day. There were 5 entries which really covered the whole range of design and construction methods, and they were judged by ShopBot’s landlord and neighbor. Bob had a tough time deciding on a winner but finally decided on Scott’s amp and guitar combination. Scott’s entry won him the same prize that the Grand prize winner will get in the Jamboree contest…a video IPod!
Here are some pictures of the entries…we’re really looking forward to seeing what ShopBotters come up with for the Jamboree.
Scott’s winning speaker…a neat take on a guitar amplifier including a styrofoam Telecaster!
Ted’s speaker mobile. The “paddles” on the ends are foam and the arms are plywood. A very interesting design.
Grant’s wrap-around speaker hangs above your favorite chair giving an experience similar to headphones. The SoundPads are attached to plexiglass panels on either side.
Bill’s speaker version of the ShopBot logo…8′ long with applied letters cut from 1″ foam and painted with Krylon H20 water-based spray paint.
Brian’s entry was my personal favorite…understated but graphically the most appealing!
